Girls With Wings - Dreams Take Flight!
Girls With Wings - Dreams Take Flight!
Air Bear Program. The basic premise for Air Bears Go to School is that
primary grade children are especially receptive to stimuli to which they are
exposed. Presented by the East Canada Section of The Ninety-Nines, Inc. "We
felt that if we wanted to have the maximum impact in familiarizing future
citizens with aviation, we should introduce it in the schools to this age group."
Also available:
Theory of Flight (intermediate-level elementary science
lesson) and a
Presentation Outline (for Grades 7-8; 12-13 year olds).

GET STUDENTS SET ON THE 'PATH TO AVIATION' - Courtesy of AOPA
As students prepare to head back to school, remember to teach young people
about aviation, the joy of flight, and the vast career opportunities. Do your
part and introduce fellow pilots and teachers to the AOPA Pilots and Teachers
Handbook (PATH). PATH provides expert resources to help bring basic aviation
topics into the classroom with 11 easy-to-follow modules, which highlight
common questions people often ask about general aviation. PATH ties
activities to secondary school topics. It also guides pilots and teachers to
arrange a classroom visit or field trips to local airports where aviation
professionals can share their enthusiasm and knowledge of flying with
students. Request a copy or
download AOPA's PATH to Aviation.

Robin Whirlybird was made possible by funding from the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Rotorcraft Base R & T
Program. It was developed by NASA Ames Education.
http://rotored.arc.nasa.gov/index.html This educational web site is designed
for classroom use by teachers and students in Kindergarten through grade 4.
It is also designed for homeschool use and for use by those who are
interested in rotorcraft.

The web site is actually an on-line, interactive book about one girl's visit with
her mother to the rotorcraft research center at which her mother works. Not
only is the story enjoyable to read with its full color pictures, there is also a
lot to do on each page besides read the story. Each button within the menu
bar allows the student or user to explore other topics about rotorcraft as
well. Exploring with your cursor the illustrations on each page, and clicking on
hot spots will also bring up more rotorcraft information.
Educator's Corner is a fun page for all. It includes activities for the
